John Beasley passed away on 26th January, 2012.
John was not just an award winning sculptor and
a writer of books about plants but a thoroughly delightful man who will be dearly missed by many.

Joyce Berendes
Long time Kuranda resident Author/Playwright Joyce Berendes, came to Australia as a fully qualified Dancer/Actress. After a successful theatre career - winning at one stage Twelve Night's Theater best actress award - she started a Children's Operetta Group for which she wrote the book and lyrics of two
big Children's Musicals. She started writing novels,
set in Far North Queensland in 2001.
In Kuranda, Joyce was involved in organizing conferences, art exhibitions, as well as doing the choreography, directing plays,
and teaching at drama workshops.
