Kuranda is home to a wide and varied community of entertainers, including music, mime, magic and circus.  Kuranda also has the a wonderful open air venue - The Kuranda Amphitheatre.

Kuranda Amphitheatre

Created by the Kuranda community in the late 1970s and officially

opened in 1980, the Kuranda Amphitheatre is not only one of the 

best outdoor venues in Australia for staging all manner of events, 

it also serves as a community venue where locals can go to enjoy 

themselves and be creative. 

The Kuranda Amphitheatre is community run and funded - created 

and operated by the people of Kuranda on a not-for-profit basis. 

This spirit of community combined with natural beauty makes for an 

unforgettable experience.   Over the years many of the volunteer 

workers have been the very same musicians, actors and artists 

performing on the stage. With this creative energy at work the 

Kuranda Amphitheatre will continue being a great experience for 

us all.

Gudju Gudju

Roots/Acoustic/Reggae

Gudju Gudju (Rainbow Serpent) is a multi cultural band from the rainforest 

village of Kuranda, Far North Queensland, Australia. They promote cultural 

awareness through their soulful blend of roots and reggae music and 

inspired performance. The use of the Djabuguay language gives special 

power to their message as they sing about traditional and contemporary 

culture. Collectively they strive to help keep Aboriginal culture alive. 

Gudju Gudju performed at the Ainu Multi Cultural Festival in Hokkaido 

Japan, and have supported Bony M, Archie Roach, Ash Grunwald and 

Shane Howard and recently performed at the Kuranda Blues & Roots 

Festival, Yungaburra Music Festival and 'Caring For Country' Festival in 

North Queensland. CD's available with all original songs include 'Shores 

of Eden' and newly recorded 'Listen Up' album as well as 'Djalari' EP with 

three great original songs including 'One Vibe', Bada Nyiwul and 'Gindan 

Moon' Soulful harmonies, strong rhythms, powerful visual performance & Djabuguay language....

Combining elements of Swing, Funk, Blues & Jazz, Paris Texas

are a band for all occasions.  Led by Gabrielle O'Shannessy on bass 

and vox with Mick Porter on guitar and David Breeze on guitar and 

bass this is one seriously funk-driven unit.  Playing classic standards

as well as personal favourites they throw in some world class originals 

to round out one of Cairns's most exciting additions to the live music area.

Having formed in 2008 they have played just about every venue in Cairns 

and played some very high end gigs as well - a testament to their 

professionalism and desire to push their art to the highest level.  After 

hearing these two guys and a gal you would think that they had played 

together for eternity.

Raconteurs

Originals/Ska/World - Band

Raconteurs - tellers of tales and sagas.  That pretty well sums up this

band of musical gypsies.  Having formed back in 2004 the group has

been through every possible highlight that one could think of.  David 

Breeze on guitar is again at the helm of this much loved band consisting

of Paul Francis on drums, and Jack Dunbar on bass and to this they call 

upon various horn players to round out their exotic sound.  The recent

addition to this unique group is Paul Barton on keys.
